Welcome to StepMerit Learning (“StepMerit”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the StepMerit website, training programmes, certification-related services, course materials, examinations, digital services, corporate training and other services provided by StepMerit.

By accessing our website, submitting a booking, purchasing a course, making a payment, creating an account, or participating in a StepMerit training programme, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Payment, Cancellation, Refund & Rescheduling Policy.

1. Definitions

For these Terms:

“StepMerit” means StepMerit Learning and the applicable legal entity providing or invoicing the service.

“Website” means the StepMerit website available through stepmerit.com and related authorised StepMerit webpages.

“Customer” or “You” means an individual or organisation purchasing, booking, accessing or using StepMerit services.

“Learner” or “Participant” means an individual registered to attend or access a training programme.

“Booker” means an individual making a booking for themselves or on behalf of another learner or organisation.

“Course” means any instructor-led, virtual, classroom, self-paced, e-learning, corporate or customised training programme offered by StepMerit.

“Certification Body” means an external organisation responsible for an examination, certification, accreditation, membership or associated credential.

“Course Materials” include presentations, workbooks, guides, videos, recordings, practice questions, laboratories, digital content and other learning resources provided as part of a course.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using StepMerit's website or purchasing our services, you agree to comply with these Terms.

Where an organisation purchases training for employees or other participants, the person making the booking confirms that they are authorised to make the purchase and provide the relevant participant information.

The Booker is responsible for making applicable booking information and these Terms available to participants.

3. Course Information

StepMerit makes reasonable efforts to ensure course descriptions, learning objectives, schedules, durations and other information displayed on the website are accurate.

Course information may occasionally change because of:

  • Certification-body updates;
  • Examination changes;
  • Curriculum revisions;
  • Technology changes;
  • Trainer availability;
  • Regulatory requirements; or
  • Improvements to the programme.

StepMerit may reasonably update course content to maintain relevance or alignment with applicable certification requirements.

4. Course Eligibility and Prerequisites

Certain courses or examinations may have prerequisites relating to:

  • Professional experience;
  • Previous certifications;
  • Education;
  • Training attendance;
  • Examination eligibility; or
  • Certification-body requirements.

Where prerequisites apply, learners are responsible for ensuring that they satisfy them.

StepMerit may provide guidance regarding prerequisites but does not control eligibility decisions made independently by third-party certification or examination organisations.

5. Prices

Course prices will normally be displayed on the StepMerit website or provided through a quotation.

Prices may vary according to:

  • Country;
  • Currency;
  • Training location;
  • Delivery method;
  • Course;
  • Examination requirements;
  • Certification fees;
  • Promotional offers;
  • Group size; or
  • Corporate requirements.

StepMerit may change advertised prices before a booking is confirmed.

Once a booking has been confirmed and paid, the agreed price will normally apply unless additional products or services are subsequently requested or a pricing adjustment is required by law or agreed with the customer.

6. Quotations

Unless otherwise stated in writing, quotations are valid for the period specified on the quotation.

Prices may change after a quotation expires.

Corporate quotations may specify separate terms relating to:

  • Payment schedules;
  • Taxes;
  • Travel;
  • Accommodation;
  • Trainer expenses;
  • Examination fees;
  • Customisation;
  • Cancellation; and
  • Rescheduling.

Where specifically agreed in writing, those commercial terms may supplement these Terms.

7. Taxes

Applicable GST, VAT, sales tax or other taxes may be charged according to relevant laws and the customer's billing or service location.

For transactions in India, applicable GST will be charged where legally required.

International transactions may be subject to taxes or charges according to the applicable jurisdiction.

8. Payment

Payment must be made using an authorised StepMerit payment method.

Available methods may include:

  • Credit card;
  • Debit card;
  • UPI;
  • Net banking;
  • Bank transfer; and
  • Approved payment gateways.

A booking is considered confirmed once the required payment has been successfully received or approved credit terms have been agreed in writing.

StepMerit may restrict access to training, course materials, examinations or certificates where an amount legitimately due remains unpaid.

9. Payment Currency

StepMerit may accept INR, USD and other supported currencies.

Currency conversion displayed on the website may be indicative. Actual amounts charged may vary because of exchange rates, payment gateway rates, card-provider conversion rates or banking charges.

10. Booking Confirmation

Following successful registration and payment, StepMerit will normally issue an electronic booking confirmation.

Customers should review:

  • Learner name;
  • Course;
  • Training dates;
  • Delivery method;
  • Location, where applicable;
  • Examination details; and
  • Payment information.

Any discrepancy should be reported promptly.

11. Joining Instructions

Joining instructions may be provided before an instructor-led programme.

These may include:

  • Training schedule;
  • Virtual meeting information;
  • Venue details;
  • Trainer information;
  • Course requirements;
  • Pre-course work;
  • Software requirements;
  • Examination information; and
  • Other relevant instructions.

Learners are responsible for reviewing and following applicable joining instructions.

12. Instructor-Led Classroom Training

Learners attending classroom training are responsible for arriving at the designated venue at the appropriate time.

StepMerit may change a classroom venue where reasonably necessary.

Where this occurs, StepMerit will make reasonable efforts to notify affected participants.

13. Live Virtual Training

Participants attending live virtual training are responsible for having suitable:

  • Internet connectivity;
  • Computer or compatible device;
  • Browser;
  • Audio capability;
  • Microphone where required; and
  • Software required for the programme.

Participants should test their systems before training.

StepMerit cannot guarantee uninterrupted participation where access problems arise solely from the learner's equipment, internet connection or local technical environment.

14. Self-Paced and E-Learning Courses

Certain StepMerit courses may be provided through an online learning platform.

Access duration will be displayed on the applicable course page, order confirmation or commercial agreement.

Login credentials are intended for the registered learner and should not be shared.

StepMerit may suspend access where there is reasonable evidence of:

  • Account sharing;
  • Unauthorised redistribution;
  • Copyright infringement;
  • Automated extraction of course content;
  • Security abuse; or
  • Other material misuse of the platform.

15. Course Materials

Depending on the programme, learners may receive digital or physical course materials.

Live virtual programmes may primarily use electronic materials.

Materials may be supplied directly by StepMerit or by an applicable certification, accreditation or courseware provider.

16. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, StepMerit or its applicable licensors retain intellectual-property rights in StepMerit-created:

  • Website content;
  • Course materials;
  • Presentations;
  • Videos;
  • Graphics;
  • Learning resources;
  • Assessments;
  • Software;
  • Branding;
  • Logos; and
  • Other proprietary content.

Third-party certification materials remain the intellectual property of their respective owners.

Purchase of a course does not transfer ownership of intellectual property to the learner.

17. Permitted Use of Materials

Course materials are provided primarily for the registered learner's personal educational use.

Unless expressly authorised, users must not:

  • Copy materials for commercial purposes;
  • Sell or resell materials;
  • Publish materials publicly;
  • Upload materials to file-sharing websites;
  • Share paid course access;
  • Reproduce substantial portions of materials;
  • Remove copyright notices;
  • Record training sessions without permission; or
  • Distribute examination materials.

18. Recording Training Sessions

Learners may not independently record live StepMerit training sessions without prior permission.

StepMerit may record certain virtual sessions for legitimate training, quality, security or learner-access purposes.

Where required by applicable law, participants will be appropriately informed.

19. Examinations

Some courses may include or optionally provide certification examinations.

Examinations may be administered directly by third-party certification organisations.

Learners must comply with the examination provider's:

  • Registration requirements;
  • Identification requirements;
  • Scheduling conditions;
  • Examination rules;
  • Rescheduling rules;
  • Retake rules; and
  • Candidate agreements.

StepMerit cannot override rules independently imposed by a certification body.

20. Examination Vouchers

Where an examination voucher is included or purchased separately, it may have an expiry date established by the certification provider.

Learners are responsible for scheduling and using their voucher before its expiry.

Once an examination voucher has been ordered, allocated, issued, activated, registered or redeemed, it may be non-refundable according to the applicable provider's conditions.

21. Certification

Successful completion of StepMerit training does not automatically guarantee an external certification unless the applicable certification requirements have also been satisfied.

Requirements may include:

  • Attendance;
  • Examination;
  • Passing score;
  • Professional experience;
  • Application;
  • Membership;
  • Continuing education; or
  • Other certification-body conditions.

22. Examination Results

Examination results are determined by the applicable examination or certification organisation where the examination is externally administered.

StepMerit cannot guarantee a particular examination result.

Training, practice questions and mock examinations are designed to assist preparation but do not guarantee that a learner will pass an examination.

23. Cancellation, Refund and Rescheduling

Cancellations, refunds, course transfers and rescheduling are governed by StepMerit's separate:

Payment, Cancellation, Refund & Rescheduling Policy.

That policy forms part of these Terms.

Where a certification provider has already charged StepMerit for an examination voucher, licence, courseware, laboratory or other non-refundable service, the applicable amount may not be refundable.

24. Course Changes by StepMerit

StepMerit may reasonably change:

  • Trainer;
  • Venue;
  • Training platform;
  • Course schedule;
  • Delivery format; or
  • Course content

where operationally necessary.

StepMerit will make reasonable efforts to minimise disruption and notify affected learners where appropriate.

25. Course Cancellation by StepMerit

If StepMerit cancels a scheduled training programme, affected customers may be offered, depending on the circumstances:

  • Another available batch;
  • Virtual delivery;
  • Alternative dates;
  • Course credit; or
  • Refund of the eligible amount.

The applicable refund provisions are described in StepMerit's Payment, Cancellation, Refund & Rescheduling Policy.

26. Non-Attendance

Failure to attend confirmed training without an approved cancellation or rescheduling request may be treated as a no-show.

Non-attendance does not normally create an automatic entitlement to a refund.

27. Participant Substitution

For eligible instructor-led programmes, StepMerit may permit another learner to replace the originally registered participant.

Substitution may not be possible after examination registration, certification registration, courseware allocation or voucher issuance.

Any resulting third-party charges may be payable by the customer.

28. Corporate Training

StepMerit may provide customised training to organisations, including:

  • Private virtual training;
  • Onsite classroom training;
  • Dedicated batches;
  • Customised programmes; and
  • Enterprise training.

Corporate training may be governed by a separate quotation, proposal, purchase order, Statement of Work or service agreement.

29. Onsite Training

Where training is delivered at a customer-provided location, the customer is responsible for providing appropriate facilities unless otherwise agreed.

These may include:

  • Training room;
  • Seating;
  • Projector/display;
  • Internet connectivity;
  • Power supply;
  • Required equipment;
  • Appropriate access; and
  • A safe training environment.

StepMerit may suspend or discontinue delivery if conditions prevent the training from being delivered safely or effectively.

30. Trainer Travel and Expenses

Where onsite training requires trainer travel, applicable expenses may include:

  • Flights;
  • Accommodation;
  • Visa charges;
  • Ground transportation;
  • Meals;
  • Travel insurance; and
  • Other agreed travel costs.

These costs will be handled according to the applicable quotation or agreement.

31. Customer Travel and Accommodation

Unless expressly included in a StepMerit booking, customers are responsible for arranging their own travel, accommodation, visas and related expenses.

Customers should avoid making non-refundable arrangements until classroom training has been confirmed.

32. Promotional Offers

StepMerit may periodically offer:

  • Coupon codes;
  • Promotional discounts;
  • Combo offers;
  • Group discounts;
  • Corporate discounts; and
  • Limited-time promotions.

Offers may have separate eligibility requirements and expiry dates.

Promotional offers cannot normally be combined unless explicitly stated.

33. Combo Courses

Where multiple courses are purchased as a package, the package may have special pricing.

If one or more courses have already been accessed, attended or completed, any permitted refund calculation may account for the normal value of services already supplied.

34. Website Accounts

Users may be able to create StepMerit accounts using direct registration or supported third-party authentication services.

Users are responsible for protecting their account credentials and should promptly report suspected unauthorised access.

35. Acceptable Website Use

Users must not intentionally:

  • Interfere with website operation;
  • Attempt unauthorised access;
  • Introduce malicious software;
  • Circumvent security controls;
  • Scrape protected content at unreasonable scale;
  • Impersonate another person;
  • Use another learner's account without authorisation;

StepMerit aims to maintain accurate website information.

However, occasional typographical, technical, pricing, scheduling or content errors may occur.

Where an obvious error occurs, StepMerit may correct it and contact affected customers where necessary.

37. Third-Party Websites

StepMerit may provide links to certification organisations, examination providers, payment gateways, social networks and other external websites.

Third-party websites operate independently and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

StepMerit is not responsible for the content or independent operation of third-party websites.

38. Third-Party Certification Providers

Certain courses may be associated with independent certification or accreditation organisations.

Names, trademarks and certification marks belonging to third parties remain the property of their respective owners.

StepMerit will identify its relationship with such organisations accurately and will not represent an accreditation or partnership that does not exist.

39. Privacy and Personal Information

Personal information is handled according to the StepMerit Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection requirements.

Information may be shared with certification bodies, examination providers, payment processors or other service providers where reasonably necessary to deliver purchased services.

40. Testimonials and Reviews

Learners may voluntarily submit ratings, reviews and testimonials.

StepMerit may publish approved testimonials according to the permissions provided by the learner and applicable privacy requirements.

StepMerit may moderate content that is unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, unrelated or otherwise inappropriate.

41. Certificates of Completion

Where applicable, StepMerit may issue a training attendance or completion certificate.

A StepMerit course-completion certificate should not be represented as an independent professional certification unless it has actually been issued or recognised by the applicable certification body.

42. Professional and Career Outcomes

Training is intended to improve knowledge and professional skills.

StepMerit does not guarantee:

  • Employment;
  • Promotion;
  • Salary increase;
  • Career advancement;
  • Examination success;
  • Certification approval; or
  • Particular business results.

Actual outcomes depend on numerous factors outside StepMerit's control.

43. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StepMerit's liability arising from a particular purchased service will be subject to applicable law and the contractual terms governing that service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

StepMerit will not ordinarily be responsible for indirect losses arising solely from circumstances outside its reasonable control, subject always to applicable consumer-protection law.

44. Force Majeure

StepMerit will not be considered in breach of its obligations where performance is prevented or materially delayed by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

Examples may include:

  • Natural disasters;
  • Severe weather;
  • Epidemics or public-health emergencies;
  • War or civil disturbance;
  • Government restrictions;
  • Transport disruption;
  • Major internet or telecommunications failures;
  • Power failures;
  • Industrial disputes; or
  • Other comparable events outside reasonable control.

Where possible, StepMerit will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative training arrangement.

45. Complaints

StepMerit is committed to addressing legitimate customer concerns fairly.

A complaint should include sufficient information to identify the booking and understand the issue.

Complaints may be submitted to:

support@stepmerit.com

StepMerit will review the complaint and endeavour to provide an appropriate response within a reasonable period.

46. Fraud and Misuse

StepMerit may investigate transactions or accounts where there is reasonable evidence of:

  • Payment fraud;
  • Identity misuse;
  • Unauthorised account access;
  • Voucher misuse;
  • Certificate manipulation;
  • Intellectual-property infringement; or
  • Abuse of StepMerit systems.

Appropriate action may include account restriction or cancellation where justified and permitted by law.

47. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

Unless mandatory consumer law or a separate written contract requires otherwise, these Terms will be governed by the laws of India.

Subject to applicable law, disputes relating to StepMerit's Indian operations will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

Customers in other jurisdictions may retain mandatory rights provided by the laws applicable to them.

48. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

49. No Waiver

Failure by StepMerit to enforce a provision on one occasion does not necessarily constitute a waiver of that provision or any other rights.

  • Services;
  • Website functionality;
  • Certification requirements;
  • Business operations;
  • Technology;
